Prevention & Education Program
We believe it takes an entire community working collectively to end the generational cycle of abuse. That’s why we’ve developed our Community Outreach Initiative and our Prevention Education Initiative. By helping people understand the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence and how to support someone in an abusive relationship, we’re growing a network of informed, compassionate advocates. Each new advocate strengthens our community’s ability to respond—and brings us one step closer to ending domestic and sexual violence in Northeast Wisconsin.
Community Outreach
Our Community Outreach Initiative equips people with the knowledge and tools to better understand domestic and sexual violence—including their many forms, their traumatic effects, and how to support someone in an unhealthy relationship. By building awareness and strengthening our community’s response to domestic and sexual violence, we’re helping victims feel less alone while empowering friends, family, and neighbors to offer meaningful support.
Community Presentations
Our community presentations help participants better understand the complexities of domestic and sexual violence. We share information about the services available through Harbor House and explain how to access them. Attendees also learn how to support a friend or loved one who may be in an unhealthy relationship.
Professional Training
We offer trainings for health care workers, educators, law enforcement officers, HR professionals, clergy members, social workers, hair professionals, and more. Each session emphasizes their role in recognizing, supporting, and referring victims of domestic and sexual violence within the broader continuum of care.

Prevention Education
Offered to school districts across Outagamie and Calumet Counties, our Prevention Education Initiative brings a message promoting anti-violence to more than 10,000 students and educators each year. Through classroom presentations, we provide education focused on anti-bullying, protective behaviors, recognizing healthy versus unhealthy relationships, and the prevention of teen dating violence. In addition to helping children and teens recognize violent behavior and seek help for themselves or others, this work lays the foundation for healthy relationships in their future.
Programming is presented with an age-appropriate focus:
- Grade K-2: Kindness and inclusion
- Grade 3-6: The power of words and how to use them to uplift rather than tear down
- Grade 7-9: Recognizing teen dating violence and understanding the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships
- Grade 10-12: Protective behaviors and relationship boundaries as students prepare for college and careers
