Volunteer for Harbor House

Our work wouldnโ€™t be possible without the compassion and commitment of our volunteers. They come from all walks of lifeโ€”parents and teens, professionals and students, individuals and community groups. This diversity helps us create a welcoming, inclusive space that supports those affected by domestic and sexual violence, enriches the lives of shelter residents and staff, and strengthens our connection to the community.

Volunteer Training

We want every volunteer who walks through our doors to feel a strong connection to Harbor House and the work weโ€™re doing to end domestic and sexual violence in Northeast Wisconsin. When you join our team, you'll take part in a volunteer training in which youโ€™ll learn about the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence, the impact it can have on children, the importance of confidentiality and how to protect it, and key concepts related to anti-oppression.

Share Your Talents

Have a special skill that isnโ€™t in our list of volunteer opportunities? Weโ€™d love to hear about it. Our volunteers have offered their expertise in a wide range of areas, including life coaching, auto care, resume writing, interviewing, and budgeting. Others have donated their time by providing free personal care services such as haircuts, yoga, massage, and chiropractic treatment. If thereโ€™s a way your skills can support our mission, weโ€™re open to ideas.

Volunteer Opportunities

Harbor House volunteers share their time and talents in a variety of ways. The list below highlights some of the areas where we regularly need supportโ€”but we also welcome ideas from individuals who want to contribute their unique skills.

Community Event Supporter

As a Community Event Supporter, you will assist at events with set-up and/or take-down. Learn about Harbor House's programs & services so you can put a smile on and interact with the community. This could mean simply holding a conversation or playing an interactive game with children.
