Building Safer Communities Through Education and Connection

At Harbor House, our mission extends beyond providing shelter and crisis services. We believe that ending domestic and sexual violence requires more than responding to abuse—it requires prevention, education, and community engagement. That’s where our Community Outreach program comes in.

Through meaningful partnerships, educational presentations, and public awareness initiatives, Harbor House works to create a community where everyone understands the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence and knows how to support survivors.

Meeting People Where They Are

Community Outreach serves individuals of all ages and backgrounds throughout the Fox Valley and surrounding communities. Our team provides education and resources in schools, workplaces, faith communities, civic organizations, and community groups, helping participants recognize warning signs, understand healthy relationships, and learn how to respond when someone needs support.

By meeting people where they are, Harbor House helps ensure that information, resources, and hope are accessible to everyone.

Building Strong Community Partnerships

Creating lasting change requires collaboration. Harbor House partners with schools, healthcare providers, businesses, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations to strengthen support systems for survivors and increase awareness throughout the region.

These partnerships allow us to reach thousands of people each year and ensure that no one has to face violence alone.

Raising Awareness and Reducing Stigma

Domestic and sexual violence affect people of every age, gender, race, socioeconomic background, and community. Yet many survivors remain silent because of fear, shame, or lack of information.

Through awareness campaigns, community events, and public education efforts, Harbor House helps break the silence surrounding abuse and encourages survivors to seek support without judgment.

Creating a Future Free from Violence

Every conversation, every presentation, and every connection made through Community Outreach represents an opportunity to create change. When communities understand the signs of abuse, support survivors, and promote healthy relationships, we move closer to a future free from violence.

Harbor House is committed to serving all people impacted by domestic and sexual violence through individual and community-focused safety, engagement, education, and healing. Community Outreach is an essential part of that mission—helping to build safer, stronger, and more compassionate communities for everyone.
